UV-Protective Varnish

To extend the life of your labels as much as possible, we apply a clear UV-protective varnish just before they’re cut. Available in gloss and matt, the varnish stop your labels fading when exposed to UV light, which are common in both commercial and retail environments.

It also protects the labels from minor scuffs and liquid spills, making it ideal for food and drink labels.

If you’ve used textured paper as the material for your labels, a UV-protective varnish will keep it (and your brand) looking great in commercial and retail environments.

UV-protective varnishes are designed to protect your labels and nothing more. Applying a matt varnish to glossy white material won’t give your label a matt finish or vice versa. The matt and glossy varnishes complement the material while providing an added layer of protection.

UV-protective varnishes are not sold as aesthetic varnishes; they are much more related to label function than label aesthetics. We offer both gloss and matt variations in order to compliment the finish of our most standard materials. Applying a matt UV-protective varnish to glossy white material will not result in a complete matt finish; a matt UV varnish is available to be applied to and compliment matt, textured papers. In essence, UV-protective varnishes are not mean to be seen; they are there to increase the longevity of your custom printed labels.

While the UV-protective varnish is suitable for thermal transfer printing, do not apply it if you’ll be using direct thermal printing. The heat generated during the printing process will melt the varnish. (It will also start to smell.)
