Pharmaceutical Labels for a Wide Range of Applications
Whether disinfectants, cough syrups, laboratory samples, raw materials for drug production or packaging – the areas of application for pharmaceutical labels are very varied. At the same time, products must be clearly labeled. The requirements for the label can vary: from oil and water resistance, to removability without leaving residues, to opaque materials to be glued on top. Why Labels for Pharmaceutical Products?
In addition to the outer packaging, the product label is one of the main sources of information. The customer must be able to see at a glance which product is in front of him, how it is to be used, who manufactured it and how much product it contains and in what form. At the same time, the label is also an advertising space and should not only inform the customer, but also visually attract and convince of the quality of the content. That’s why at etiqueta.es you can get your pharmaceutical labels in different and personalized shapes, in different materials and, if you wish, with a finish. There are no limits to your creativity when it comes to design.
Pharmaceutical Label Materials
Labels for pharmaceutical products often have to meet special requirements in terms of material and adhesive. For example, depending on the product and application, they must be oil- or water-repellent, must stick reliably even in sub-zero temperatures, or must be easily removable.
For most applications in the pharmaceutical sector, film labels made of PE or PP are particularly suitable. They are water and oil repellent and at the same time have a permanent and strong adhesive. These labels are also available as removable labels with a special adhesive. This enables subsequent correction or – if desired – removal from the product without leaving any residue.
Our special material Tyvek is also suitable for pharmaceutical and medical products. It consists of a non-woven material made of PE fibers. The fabric is arranged in multiple overlapping layers. Thus, a particularly robust, tear-resistant and water-/oil-repellent material is created.
Another way to protect the label from abrasion, moisture or contact with oil, is to apply a film lamination. This transparent film (matt or glossy) is applied to the label and covers the printed image like a protective layer.
Labels with barcodes
Barcodes, numbering or other codes are used particularly frequently for pharmaceutical products. Whether for inventory, for serialisation or as a classic barcode for retail. Thanks to digital printing, individual barcodes can be printed easily and with precise definition. All we need is a list of codes. From it, we generate your individual barcode labels.
Good to know:
As of February 2019, prescription-only medicines can only be marketed if the primary packaging contains the following information:
- Name of the medicinal product
- Qualitative + quantitative composition of active ingredients
- Pharmaceutical form and contents
- List of excipients
In addition, medicinal products must be provided with additional safety features that prevent possible tampering or make it directly recognizable. This includes, for example, the original closure.
